Carnaval in Cadiz, Spain

So this is me dressed in a kimona as a Geisha. I pulled it off pretty good, don't ya think?? My host mom had this costume in her closet from a past student who lived here so she let me borrow it. It was a lot of fun dressing up. People went ALL out for this carnaval and when i say ALL out i mean like 500 times more than i have ever seen on any halloween in my life!
This was before the Carnaval getting ready with my 2 clemson girls! They were elves! (Becca and Mac) I am the freakish chinese girl in the middle ;o)
So this is pretty much the CRAZIEST night i have ever experienced in my life. Basically, what it was - was millions of people dressed up in amazing costumes drinking in the streets. It was packed out through out the whole town. There were no bathrooms so people were using the bathroom all along the street everywhere. It was pretty disgusting. It rained VERY hard on us for atleast an hour. It is a party through the entire night, so we took a bus and arrived there at midnight then took a bus back at 6 a.m. It is a city right on the beach about 2 hours away. This is the 3rd largest carnaval in the world - beats Mardi Gras by far!! It sure was an experience, but I'm not sure if I would be up for it every year. Of course we ended the night with CHURROS... my weakness here in Spain. (they are like funnel cakes except shaped like a long stick and you dip them in chocolate) ahhh delicious!!

I had my first test today! It wasn't too bad. Then I went for a run by the river. It is absolutely GORGEOUS today - with the sun out! After my run I just sat right by the river and layed in the sun, it felt amazing! I love having time to be alone with just me and God and think... especially with such beautiful nature surrounding me.

I am leaving for Granada, Spain tomorrow with a group from the Center. I have heard great things about Granada - we are going to visit a lot of places while we are there so I will be sure to take some good pictures for ya! Then off to DUBLIN on March 9th!! :-)

I don't know if I ever told you but my cell phone number here is 656-948-445 if you ever want to get a calling card to say hello!! (The area code to Europe (011) then for Spain it is (34) So.... it would be (011)-(34)-(656)-(948)-(445)

My address is the following: (if you ever want to send me a surpride ;o)
