Madrid retreat weekend!

This past weekend I went to Madrid, Spain for a study abroad retreat. I took the bus there with 2 other girls which was a 6 hour bus ride and rode the Ave (speed train) on the way home b/c all the seats were taken on the way home, which was a lot of fun just a lot more expencive!

I learned so much at the retreat! I learned how different Spaniards think about religion. Spain is a Catholic country, but there are not many devoted Christians in Spain. (At the University of Sevilla, 20,000 people there are only 7 known Christians) So the retreat was basically about how to live here while you're in Spain so that the Spaniards can see that something is different and see Christ living in you, especially by building relationships and going to the places where they hang out. We went on a hike to the top of the mountain where we were staying right outside Madrid in Escorial. You can see I am sitting in a rock, this is where King Philipe II throne was. You can see the Escorial Monestary which is very very old.

The other picture is me and Kim. She is so awesome!!! She graduated from college last year and decided to do something for God, so she is doing mission work while she is here in Sevilla for a year. Then she is going back to grad school.

Classes have been tough!!!! I use to think it was hard to pay attention to lectures at Clemson.... well try listening to lectures totally in Spanish from professors who speak no english. It is very frustrating for me, but i know it will be good for me in the end. Well, I believe I am going to Portugal this weekend with some friends. I also bought a ticket to Dublin, Ireland for during March with some friends!!!! I am very excited!
More pictures to come.... of my friends and I and TAPA pics!
